The HITSA Group – which Lampas is a part of – has halved its Scope 1 and 2 CO2 emissions since 2021 and has now calculated its Scope 3 CO2 emissions for the first time. You can find out about this and more in the 2024 Sustainability Report, which has now been published. The report brings together results and data from our work to transform the company and ensure that the impact on people and the environment from our activities is as positive as possible.
Lampas became ISO 14001 certified in environmental management in 2024, which was also the year Lampas moved to its own location.
CO2 emissions have been a key focus since the HITSA Group first began its sustainability work. It is therefore positive to note that we have now substantially reduced our emissions over several years.
“This result has been achieved with the dedication and commitment of our skilled employees. I hope that it will inspire other companies to take action as well. It is neither too difficult nor too expensive for anyone to reduce their negative climate impact – on the contrary, reducing energy and material waste is both common sense and good economics,” says CEO Henrik Andersen.
Calculating Scope 3 emissions marks a major CO2 milestone. Scope 1 and 2 cover the company’s energy consumption, while Scope 3 covers indirect emissions from purchased materials, shipping, etc.
“Understanding Scope 3 gives us potential to take action within brand new areas. We already have a good grip on energy consumption, which impacts Scope 1 and 2. The Scope 3 data set could lead to totally different initiatives; for example, minimising waste, optimising shipping or developing products with a focus on lifecycle,” says Sustainability Officer Josephine Husted Jespersen.
Other results in the report include the Group having achieved its targets for 2 out of 3 social inclusion KPIs. These relate to the number of apprentices and the proportion of employees marginalised from the labour market.
The year was also impacted by relocation and restructuring of operations. Subsidiary company Lampas moved to its own site, while our metalworking operations were transferred back to Denmark from Latvia. The effects from this can be seen in the report, including less transport between companies, more construction waste and an expanded working environment organisation.

In addition to results, the report includes stories from everyday life at HITSA and Lampas; for instance, discover why two employees took a mentoring course, meet our health and safety representatives and find out how a board game and LEGO benches helped with our strategy.
