KONUS L1202 POST LIGHT

Design: Torben Rix and Ole Bruhn

The KONUS L1202 is a post light with an unusual post consisting of four steel rods, which is what gives it such a light appearance.

The horizontal screen turns it into an almost classic street light, that will add a decorative touch to the urban landscape.

The transparent construction using the four rods leaves space for the background and surroundings to be noticed, too. Place the KONUS L1202 anywhere you need light in the evening, but would still like to have an unobstructed view of the sea or garden during the daytime.

Post light in steel

The KONUS L1202 is made entirely of steel. A steel pipe at the bottom is linked to a smaller cylinder at the top by four long rods. The LED light source is concealed in the upper cylinder, from where it lights both up and down. A round steel plate at the top of the light acts as a screen and reflects the light downwards.

The KONUS light takes its name from the two cones that point towards each other from the top and bottom of the post light.

The KONUS L1202 has a rotationally symmetrical distribution of light.

Together, the four steel rods stabilise the lamp. As a design detail, the rods are welded onto the post by hand using MAG welds, which remain visible and give the impression that the lowest part of the post is solid and also prevents dirt and grime from getting into the joints between the post and the rods.

Bollard and post light in the same series

Both the KONUS L1202 post light and the KONUS L1201 bollard light were designed by the architects, Torben Rix and Ole Bruhn, in one of their many collaborations. The post light and the bollard light share the same dimensions in regard to the diameter and height of the lowest cylinder. The post light naturally provides more light than the bollard and can therefore be used to supplement it to provide coherence in terms of the overall design.

Both lighting products are manufactured in hot-dip galvanised steel, which can be powder coated afterwards. We’d be happy to paint it in the RAL colour of your choice.

The post is available in three different heights – 3 m, 3.5 m or 4.37 m.
