LIBER L5 WALL LIGHT

Design: Friis & Moltke Design

The LIBER L5 wall light is the epitome of a Friis & Moltke light designed for Lampas, where a simple piece of rolled steel plate in ´70s style has now become a timeless design icon in lighting.

Every single design detail of this lamp is spot on, and works so well that the light far surpasses its simple design and becomes a lighting experience with light, shape, material and history all rolled into one.

The LIBER L5 hangs in corridors, lobbies and hotel rooms around the world. The light is equally suitable for small or large rooms, either in black, bold colours or in the pure galvanised version.

The choice of solid materials and the robust steel screen emphasise the lamp´s simplicity. LIBER L5 is a wall light that stands the test of time, not only in terms of durability, but also when it comes to style.

Exterior wall light by Friis & Moltke Design

The LIBER L5 consists of a light source encased in a steel semi-circle. The light provides glare-free illumination in both an upward and downward direction when mounted on a wall.

The wall light can be mounted either directly on the wall or with a back plate, also in steel. The back plate is powder coated in white as standard.

The screen is made of 2 mm steel and can be supplied with a pure hot-dip galvanised surface or powder coated in any RAL colour.

The wall light is also available in an outdoor version, the LIBER L5U.

Architect-designed indoor wall light

The LIBER L5 was designed as wall lighting for a furniture exhibition at the Bella Centre in Amager in 1973. It joined Friis & Moltke Design’s long line of lamps in rolled steel plate.

When this light was being developed at Lampas, every detail, no matter how small, was examined. Every single component of the LIBER L5 has been carefully designed. For example, designers even discussed whether to use the same colour as the inside or outside for the edge (in the end, the outside won). The distance between the screws was adjusted to the size of a standard brick.
