Nye is a new residential development built north of Aarhus in 2016, where the focus is on sustainability. NYE is also the name of an award-winning lighting series created by VE2 and Lampas, which is named after the development.
The residential development in Nye was built from scratch as a modern country village. The architects LOOP Architects and Hune & Elkjær are behind the landscape architecture and the longhouse, modular homes that were built first. The architects wanted exterior lighting that would fit in with the character of the buildings and the area.
VE2 and Lampas developed a series of lights that focus on the long-term durability of the product, both in terms of expression and materials.
At the same time the series needed to be able to adapt and blend in with both modern and classical architecture. Here, the bollard made of Corten was perfect for a residential development that was designed for families.
The NYE products are designed in mono-materials that are easy to recycle. When the light unit is removed, only the steel is left.
Bollards and wall lights are sculptural during the day and provide mood-creating light in the evening.
In Nye, the NYE L1002 bollard in Corten steel that measures 60 cm, is used to mark out the longhouses and also along the paths around the landscaped lake. At the doors, the NYE L1001 wall light in black welcomes residents and guests.
