The LIBER L6 is a Danish design classic that combines a wall light with a name plate in a simple design created by Friis & Moltke Design.
The LIBER L6 consists of a plate which curves over on itself at the top, thereby creating a cover for the light fixture. The design is an almost strikingly simple option for illuminating text. The LIBER L6 works well where both lighting and communication are needed at the same time. You can place a name or house number directly on the light.
The 32.5 cm wide light is available in two lengths – 17 cm and 37 cm. The light is the same width in both versions, but the portion allocated for the sign is longer and provides more room for the text in the larger version.
The LIBER L6 is part of a series of flexible solutions, designed for minimalist-style housing. In addition to wall lights, the series also includes the mailbox, newspaper tube, extra name plates and a lid, which can be used to cover an outdoor electricity power panel.
The simple design, which is available in any colour, has made this series a firm favourite with home owners since the 1970s.
The series is also very suitable for housing developers and housing associations, who want an all-in-one solution in robust quality for mail, signage and lighting purposes.
The LIBER L6 is made of 2 mm steel. It is available in both the pure, hot-dip galvanised grey surface or with a powder coating in any RAL colour.
The LIBER L6 was designed as lighting for a hotel corridor, where the light also needed to display the room number. It had to be positioned low and shine the light downwards to create a warm, intimate atmosphere along the corridor.
The design of the wall light is closely related to the Lampas Mailbox LIBER L17 from 1980. Both share the same dimensions, when it comes to the curves and thickness of the steel plate. Powder coating in the same colour completes the wall light and mailbox´s matching design, whose nod to retro style can be heightened or toned down through the choice of colour.
Friis & Moltke Design designed the L6 series in the 1970s. The whole series was awarded the ID Award for industrial design by the Danish Design Centre in 1989.
Friis & Moltke Design has been a part of Lampas’ history right from the start. A number of the products designed in the 1970s are still being manufactured today.
