The NYE L1004 bollard light creates inviting spaces to sit and relax with its combination of rust-red steel and wooden seat. This corten-steel light is an addition to the NYE range, delivering modern Nordic design for creating appealing and durable outdoor spaces with atmospheric illumination. NYE L1004 can be combined with the NYE L1002 bollard and the NYE L1001 wall light.

The NYE design is characterised by its cut-out wedges, casting fan-shaped pools of light. NYE L1004 is cube-shaped and provides illumination to both sides. The seat turns the light into a piece of furniture that provides a spot to sit and take a break or just hang out.

NYE L1004 can be used outdoors or in. It is high quality in terms of both materials and craftsmanship and will stand up to use in a public environment. NYE L1004 is therefore ideal for creating inspiring environments at schools, colleges and educational institutions, for instance. It can bring an inviting feel to urban spaces and communal areas for housing associations. Or it can set the mood on a terrace or in a lobby of any business with its warm light.

Corten-steel light with seat

The NYE L1004 bollard light comes in corten steel as standard. The cube can also be supplied in hot-dip galvanised, powder-coated steel in any RAL colour of your choice.

The seat consists of three wooden slats, made of FSC®-certified Sapele mahogany as standard. The slats have been designed with a slim, elegant appearance along all visible edges. So the height of the seat is incorporated into the cube. The top panel of the cube has drainage holes for rainwater.

FSC®-certified Sapele mahogany is a highly durable type of wood, so is suitable for outdoor use. It is reddish-brown in colour and will weather to a silvery-grey patina over time, especially if exposed to sun and rain. Its warm red tone can be maintained by regular oiling.

NYE L1004 is available with other types of wood on request.

This bollard light with seat is equipped with an LED light source that can be combined with dimming and lighting controls such as DALI, Casambi, etc.

The materials for NYE L1004 have been chosen with a long lifespan and minimal processing in mind. Corten steel is an alloy in which the surface layer rusts, and this rust layer subsequently helps to protect against further corrosion. We only use FSC®-certified Sapele mahogany. This means that the wood has been produced according to the FSC’s 10 principles relating to the environment, workers’ rights and responsibility towards local communities. Both materials offer excellent durability without any additional painting or treatment. Finally, NYE L1004 has been designed in a way that ensures the lighting technology, light housing and seat can easily be disassembled and sorted for reuse or recycling when the light is no longer needed.

Corten-steel and mahogany cube seat with light

As a cube seat with light, NYE L1004 delivers a Nordic look employing natural materials and a simple style. The details are well thought out and the design and manufacturing quality of this combination light/seat are clear to see.

Danish design studio VE2 designed the NYE range in 2019. NYE L1004 was developed in 2022 as a variation on NYE L1003 with added appeal as a seat. The range also includes the NYE L1002 rectangular corten-steel bollard and the NYE L1001 wall light. In 2020, the range won a Red Dot: Best of the Best Award in the category ‘Lighting & Lamps’.
